Doubler / Thumper
Secondary distillation vessels that redistill low wines into high wines -- a steam-heated pot still (doubler) or a vapor-heated thump keg (thumper).
Secondary distillation vessels used in American distilleries:
- Doubler: A small batch pot still heated by steam coils that redistills low wines into high wines.
- Thumper (Thump Keg): A non-externally heated vessel placed inline between the column still and condenser, heated solely by incoming hot vapors bubbling through liquid to drive a secondary distillation.
