Bourbon-based
Presbyterian
Often confused with a plain ginger-ale highball, but the real “Press” always splits its mixer evenly between ginger ale and club soda; an easy order for a clubhouse bar that already stocks both.
Ingredients
- 2 ozBourbon (or rye)
- 2 ozGinger ale
- 2 ozClub soda
- 1, for garnish (optional)Lemon twist
Glassware Highball glass
Method
- Fill a highball glass with ice.
- Add the whiskey.
- Top with equal parts ginger ale and club soda.
- Stir gently and garnish with a lemon twist if using.
What to Look For
A close cousin of the plain highball; splitting the mixer between ginger ale's sweetness and club soda's crisper carbonation keeps the drink from tasting flat over a long, slow round of drinks, without needing anything more than a dependable standard-proof bottle.
